Ministries Supported by Classis Grandville

Bethany Refugee Resettlement

  • The grant money will be used to assist Bethany Christian Services in ministry to refugees and to engage and train local churches in the important work of welcoming strangers.

Volunteers in Service

  • The grant will be used to support the Connecting Casework services of VIS.  One full-time and three part-time staff members direct these efforts by taking referrals, screening needs, referring the need to church-based volunteers, and providing follow-up and support.

Roosevelt Park Ministries

  • Roosevelt Park is requesting help to support the position of Family Worker.  The Family Worker position provides regular interaction with neighborhood families helping them implement and develop goals in their lives.  The Family Worker also links neighborhood folks up with the local churches.

Criminal Justice Chaplaincy

  • CJC requests help in funding their regular services of care management, support services, Take Charge program, Horticultural Therapy, and mentoring matches.  They are also seeking help in funding the new Fatherhood Program, Moral Reconation Therapy, and church support services.

Celebration Fellowship CRC Prison Cong.

  • The money is requested to support the on-going operating budget related to their ministry that serves three emerging Ionia prison congregations at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility (2) and Handlon Correctional Facility (1).

Campus Ministry @ GVSU

  • Rev. Scott Stark and Campus Ministry ministers to students at GVSU with on-campus worship, small group Bible studies, programs that engage culture with gospel of Christ, and student mentoring toward eventual leadership.

Project Hope of NE Allegan County

  • Grant money would be going toward personal items for pantry clients including deodorant, shampoo, dish soap, bar soap, laundry soap, hygiene products, tooth paste/brushes, diapers/baby wipes, etc.  These items are rarely available through FEEDING AMERICA and are not often donated in large quantities.

Family Network of Wyoming

  • Serves the greater Wyoming area by providing food, resources and services to people in need through their Food Pantry, Durable Medical Equipment Loan Program, and their Christmas Store Program.  The requested money would be used to sustain these three programming areas.

Crossroad Bible Institute

  • CBI provides faith-based curricula for every jail and prison in America.  CBI trains and equips the church to make disciples of the imprisoned through Bible study by mail.  Funding from Classis will help provide each incarcerated student with an NIV Bible.  A pilot program of students receiving lessons with prepaid return postage provided will also be supported.

Calvary CRC

  • Funds are requested to help Calvary begin to use their church facility as a Community Center on weekday afternoons and evenings.  The funding requested will be specifically used for the purpose of hiring a community center coordinator who will be a presence during the hours the center/gym is opened, and will open and close building.

Hope CRC

  • Funds are requested to help Hope reach their neighbors through a Dave Ramsey budgeting class that would be offered at a discount through scholarships (full or half scholarships).   Funds would be used for scholarships, teaching materials, and mailings.
